We would rather say this plainly near the top of the page than bury it in fine print, because you have a right to know how a site makes its money before you act on its advice.

What a commission does not buy

  • It does not buy a recommendation. We link to gear we would buy or recommend to our own families. If something is not worth the money, we say so, and we do not link to it.
  • It does not buy placement. No brand can pay to appear in a guide, in a comparison, or at the top of a list.
  • It does not change what you pay. The retailer sets the price, and it is the same price you would pay by going to the retailer directly.

Which programs we work with

USPreppers.com participates in affiliate programs, including Amazon Associates and Awin, which now includes ShareASale. We may also work with individual retailers and brands directly. The link destination tells you who is selling the product. Any commission is paid by that seller out of its own margin, never added to your total.

Free products and other relationships

We have paid for and used some of the products we write about, and some products have been provided to us free of charge. When an article is based on a product we received at no cost, we say so in that article. A free product does not buy a positive review, and we will tell you when we think something is not worth carrying.

Prices and availability

Prices, stock, and product details change constantly, and they are set by the retailer rather than by us. Details in our articles are accurate as of the date we published or last updated them. The retailer's page at the moment you click is always the one that counts.
