There is a lot of talk these days about the need to be ready for a variety of emergencies. The Fukushima disaster and Hurricane Katrina are two excellent examples of situations in which people are simply on their own for a period with no recourse to government. Trying to survive without water for very long is futile and dangerous. You can only live a few days without water if you remain still and are not sweating or breathing hard.
